Aphrodite’s Rock, Cyprus / September 2017

Petra tou Romiou- birthplace of Aphrodite

Legend claims that Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love and beauty, was born from the sea-foam on this pebbly bay, which is dominated by rugged limestone crags rising from the sea. Other myths says these boulders were hurled at the ships of Saracen corsairs by Digenis Akritas, the paladin of the Byzantine frontier.

Ponta da Piedade / Nature photography

Ponta da Piedade is a group of rocks formations on south Portugal,  near Lagos on the coastline of Algarve.

Consisting of yellow-golden clifflike rocks up to 20 meters high, they are one of the most famous touristic attractions of Portugal. Several grottos in Ponta da Piedade can be visited by boat.

Praia dos Careanos

Praia dos Careanos is the third beach we have visited. It is located on west from Praia da Rocha and Praia dos Tres Castelos in Portimao, Algarve. Rocks there conceal secret caves, chambers and passageways.

Nevertheless, the place we found was not Praia da Rocha at all, it was Praia dos Tres Castelos that charmed us with beautiful rocks:

Isn’t it beautiful ? When we saw those rocks from the above, we just headed there 🙂
